So very typical

Well after two attempts of emailing the local reviewer for an explanation on groundspeak's false accusation of podcacher.com, it was rather disturbing that there were no responses. Not even a canned scripted one.

Isn't it common courtesy, even though you are not 'allowed' to say anything, to at least send a response back to a paying member?

How about a 'thank you for your email, however, blah blah blah."

Here's the response i finally received:

"Hello,

If you feel that you are not getting the level of service you should be from the reviewers or forum moderators simply e-mail: reviewers@geocaching.com with your concerns.

This e-mail address is only for reporting concerns regarding Cache Reviewers and Forum Moderators.:"

hahahaha!! yeah right. As if TPTB would actually do anything against one of their drone robots who so willingly follow blindly.

That response more or less tells it all ..

geocaching.com and World Wide Flash Mob III ( WWFM )

Well, once again, the petty juveniles that make up geocaching.com and groundspeak.com are at it again.

Bringing to light the activity of geocaching and how it brings people together, PodCacher.com has promoted a yearly World Wide Flash Mob .. a geocaching event held at the same time on the same day across the world.

Up to the date of the event, May 10, 2008, any geocachers that were 'hosting' this event in their city or town were on a mailing list -which they signed up for- through PodCacher in order to stay in touch with updates and news regarding the WWFM.

Early on May 10, PodCacher emailed these hosts USING THEIR OWN EMAIL SERVICE to ask them to post a note on cache pages to inform people that updates on the world wide event would be available on podcacher.com.

Well, after having posted that note on the cache page, suddenly those notes were being deleted left and right by the lowly sheeple reviewers.

The reason? To quote exactly from the Reviewer's email:

"
Hello,

I just deleted your log from yesterday's Flash Mob Event which used the canned text distributed by Podcacher.com via the Geocaching.com e-mail system. The log deletion was done at Groundspeak's direction. Similar logs are being deleted by reviewers worldwide."

Yes, that's the reason. They are FALSELY accusing PodCacher.com of using geocaching.com's email system.

We looked at the original email and examined the headers. Hmmm ... odd, but there is NOT ONE LINE that shows the email went anywhere near geocaching.com's email system. Not at all.

An email sent to the reviewer that deleted our note has gone unanswered. Wow, that's a surprise, eh?

A second email sent to the reviewer is still unanswered even though the reviewer is playing around on a local group's forums.

An email sent directly to geocaching.com asking for an explanation of where it shows in the headers that it touched geocaching.com's email system and why they were falsely accusing PodCacher came back with the response:

"
Hello,

I'm sorry, but I don't fully understand what the issue is that you need me to resolve for you. Can you please clarify?

Eric
Groundspeak, Inc."

Oy!

Ok, replied to that email once again stating the question (knowing full well that they were stalling in order to figure out how to cover their arses quickly) and a reply comes back right away stating that geocaching.com was addressing the issue with PodCacher. Ahuh ... ok, blow off the question and another lie. That email was forwarded to podcacher.com for their entertainment.

There's some hidden bitterness or perhaps jealousy by the lackeys at geocaching.com against PodCacher ( who does nothing but try to help promote geocaching ).

Funny how this will all get swept under the rug and quietly go unresolved. That's the way groundspeak handles issues, probably because they're all inexperienced, all have a self-appointed 'god' attitude and believe they own geocaching. Try arguing with them and watch how fast you get your account banned!

-Recently, they approved and then pulled a picnic that was scheduled in a national park - that had the park's permission - because they were afraid it would give them a 'black eye' and geocachers would be tromping all over nature.

-They denied an After Flash Mob get together because someone thought that the people that had attended would like the opportunity to go downtown to a landmark in the city, and read some informational historic plaques pertaining to the building. It was denied because 'it didn't seem to be a stand-alone event, and a geocaching event can't be used to learn history"

What!!?!?!?!

Even after the venue was changed, the cacher had his request denied, but was told he could do it on another day and wasnt allowed to submit it for the day of the Flash Mob.

Oh, come on!! Are we like three years old here ? You see what I mean about their "god" attitude?

So the whole issue will be quiet, unlike the way they publicly treat cachers -- the very people that are paying for membership.

Groundspeak and Geocaching.com may go hush-hush and try to make this quietly go away, but this is staying here.
